Biographical Information
William E. Barksdale, who recently relocated his operation from Memphis, Tennessee to Cotter, Arkansas, specializes in agricultural photography. He produces stock images and accepts photo assignments from advertising and public relations agencies, corporate communications departments and publishers. Bill produces extensive photography of Mid-South crops, especially cotton, rice, soybeans, corn, grain sorghum and wheat. He also shoots in the Southeast, Midwest and Florida, with occasional trips to other regions.
Using professional grade Canon digital cameras and lenses, he produces images for use in ads, brochures and other marketing communications, as well as magazine covers, calendars, etc. He strives to capture the perfect angle and quality of light for each situation, usually beginning his days in the field at sunrise and ending them with post-sunset shooting.
A native of Fort Smith Arkansas, Barksdale combines agricultural writing with photography. After graduating from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in General Agriculture, he held editorial positions with two leading farm magazines before establishing Barksdale Agri-Communications, an agricultural writing-photography service. An avid outdoors man, he fly-fishes for trout with his wife, sons, and friends in his leisure time.
